Marimba Band

Westside UU sponsors two resident ensembles that use our facilities for rehearsals and performances. They perform for Sunday worship services a few times each year.

NZIRA is a community marimba band that performs music inspired by the traditional music of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. They perform throughout the Seattle area and twice per year at Westside UU for Sunday worship services. A rudimentary level of skill with music is required and the director, John Britt, is happy to help introduce marimba technique to newcomers. NZIRA is not currently accepting new members but watch for the next membership notice. Rehearsals are 1:00 - 2:30 on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month in the Westside UU fellowship hall.
